Bible Baptist Church of La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, was born in the heart of Pastor Edgar B. Nono who is a graduate of Bible Baptist College of Bible Baptist Church, Cebu City under the leadership of Dr. Armie Jesalva. In 1979, Pastor Edgar Nono was pastoring a small church in Barangay San Miguel, La Carlota City. After few years of pastoring, he cannot ignore his burden that someday the church will be planted in this area, La Carlota City which has more people.
Pastor Edgar Nono was commissioned by Dr. Armie Jesalva of Bible Baptist Church, Cebu City to start a missionary work in La Carlota City. He started the church by by planting the seed of the Word of God through personal contacts, soul-winning and home Bible studies. On August 1980, Pastor Nono started the first service at the ground floor of Marino Apartment with 64 in attendance and 12 people accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour. The Lord blessed the work until they cannot accommodate the number of people in that small apartment.
On May 1984, they decided to transfer to another rented location in LM building which had a larger space. After much labor, the Lord increased and added more people until he decided to become independent.
On August 1984, Dr Armie Jesalva came and organized the work into a local church with 120 chartered members. There were many conversions and the membership increased and the Lord allowed us to open different ministries.
In 1986, the Lord gave a special burden to his servant to train young people and prepare them for the ministry, such as, planting churches, sending out missionaries to other Islands of the country and to the foreign lands. Because of the burden to start more churches, In 1982 God open the door to start a Bible college named Philippine Bible Baptist College. The thriving goal is to train preacher boys and pastor’s wives, missionaries, Christian workers for the ministry.

The vision to have a Christian school came to reality on June 1988, where the La Carlota Precious Jewels Christian School was born. The heart’s desire that children will be taught and be trained in their early years about the word of God was materialized.
In 1990, the Lord had given us the property in Carolina, La Carlota City where the church is currently located. God has been given us a lot of opportunities to reach the community through opening new ministries. With God’s multiple blessings coupled with the people who are determined to reach more people we have now these ministries: Bible College, Christian school, church planting, missions for foreign and local, mass evangelism, revival and evangelistic meetings, youth ministry, jeepney ministry, children’s ministry, radio ministry, deaf ministry, home Bible study, soul winning saturation, rescue mission, campus ministry, Christian camp, revival camps, young adults ministry, and blind ministry.
In 2003, the Lord gave us a five-hectare (12.35 acre) property in the southern part of Negros Island, Caliling, Cauayan. This is the current project we are developing into a Christian camp. God is tremendously using this camp site to help teenagers, married couples, children and families. Camp Canaan has hosted about 3,400 people since 2003. Since the time we have started this ministry, we have now 3,403 (as of August 2009) church members and growing.
The Lord has been blessing us, and we are praying that we can expand our ministries more before the Lord comes. To God be the glory!
